LISTEN TO THE SERIES: JUNE 10 - 14 During Morning Edition and Lake Effect, WUWM News reporters and Lake Effect Producers will examine factors prompting interest in renewable energy, and how Wisconsin compares with the rest of the country.
WUWM has been recognized with 22 journalism and broadcasting awards for stories and interviews broadcast in 2012. The Associated Press (AP), Milwaukee Press Club, Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA), and Northwest Broadcast News Association (NBNA) presented the awards.
Awards were given in a variety of categories including: Investigative, Newscast, Feature, Series, Interview and Commentary. The awards cover broadcasts on WUWM News and Lake Effect.
Due to increased costs of streaming, WUWM made the difficult decision to end our music stream, WUWM 2: Music 24/7, so that we could devote those resources to our main channel, WUWM 89.7 FM and at WUWM.com.
WUWM hosted it's first-ever Volunteer Appreciation Night on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
Fourteen volunteers attended and were thrilled to tour the station, meet the on-air staff and meet each other. Volunteers had the opportunity to meet Bruce Winter, Marge Pitroff, LaToya Dennis, Susan Bence, Ann-Elise Henzl, Marti Mikkleson, Dan Harmon, Jason Mohr, Maria de Jesus Dixon and Cheryl Locher.
General Manger Dave Edwards gave a speech recognizing our volunteers' efforts - from working concerts and events to assisting with office operations - every bit makes a difference.
Wisconsin has 1,244 Vietnam Veterans listed on the Wall in Washington, D.C. Join the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s effort to collect and preserve photographs of every Wisconsin Veteran listed on the Wall. Each photo represents a life, each life a story. More than 600 photos still need to be collected. Help put a face to these names and honor those who lost their lives.
Thank you for helping Wisconsin ensure that the sacrifices made by these brave men and women will never be forgotten.
