Recently, there has been a big increase in the price of oil on the world market. For most of us, we see the effects at the gas pump with prices rising for consumers. But the impact of higher energy costs is also causing great concern for manufacturers.
Here in Wisconsin with manufacturing accounting for a large part of our economy, every time energy prices go up, profits and employment are at risk. So energy conservation becomes critical.
On this edition of UWM Today, we are going to talk about UWM’s Industrial Assessment Center. It’s a federally funded program that puts UWM faculty and students into the middle of operation at manufacturing plants, looking for ways to help companies reduce their energy costs.
Joining us in the studio is Ryo Amano, a professor of mechanical engineering in UWM’s College of Engineering and Applied Science and Director of the Industrial Assessment Center.
